well i know its late but i like to work in the nigh time..
o.k here is my issue. i have 2 different stud finders and never had a problem using them since i had them untill today.
the stud finder works like this.. it lights up green and then when it sense'* a stud the light turns from green to red to let you know you found the stud.
my problem is that when i try either stud finder they both work at first and start off green but within a inch of movement they immediatly turn red and stay red thru out the entire wall.
and this happens in mostly every wall in my house. and 2 of the walls just the light stays green and acts as if no studs are present in those 2 walls..
can some one explain this to me, the only thing i can think of is all my walls are brick or concrete,, or is it time for me to go and buy and try another stud finder..

I don't know if yours is like mine, but I have to hold it at the bottom so it works properly. I don't remember why, but the manual said that. So I have to put the finder on the wall, then push the button keeping my hand down low and then slide it across the wall.

i figured out that the problem was that my stud finder was only able to read a certain depth and my walls were i was checking were 1 inch sheet rock over brick. :?
therefore my stud finders were fine they were just out dated..
