I've heard of some bars (and goverments apparantly) ban smoking, but st. chuckles(where i hang out sometimes) wants to ban all dirty words in the bars there. :? its not like i cuss up a storm, but we are talking about a bar, not a olive garden or something.

i understand the other parts of the bill(walking/dancing on the bar/tables), but absolutely no cussing is cutting into your rights, IMO.

we have a "pot" on the bar where if you swear you have to put in 50 cents.
it goes towards the childrens xmas party at the end of the year.
lets just say I have made many of donations

I can see the safety aspects of parts of this bill, and they make sense. But IMO, it is the bars responsibility to determine if they want people dancing on bars andwhat not, NOT the city or county government. That'* just a littttttlleee too much governmental control for my liking.
Atleast they dropped the no cussing part - that was just plain ignorant, and in fact ILLEGAL and against the constitution. Government can't tell people not to cuss, lol. Not in this country anyway. I can't believe the drafters of that bill were ignorant enough to include that part and embarass themselves NATIONWIDE.

Interesting... In Calgary there was talk of city council passing a by-law prohibiting foul language in public, along with spitting and something else (which I can't recall off the top of my head). I'd have to look and see if it passed or not. I know this was within about the last year.
Different places certainly have different ideas. I recall hearing of somewhere in the US where there was a local law prohibiting underwear from showing above the beltline. Seems town/city council felt this was so outrageous they wanted to outlaw it. It certainly isn't my style but it isn't like this is going to endanger someone elses health or wellbeing.
