Anybody else catch the segment on "Horspower TV" showing a NASCAR competition for an engine build.

It was kinda neat... 16 minutes from bare block to a running motor that had to run for a minute.

I watched it today. boy were they rough putting in the camshaft though.

I always thought you were suppose to be gentle sliding the shaft in.

It only had to run for a minute. I think if they wanted it to run for 100,000 miles they would have taken more time.

I bet they've done it a few times.

The teams were from NASCAR engine shops... Hendricks vs. Pro Motion in the final pairing (looks like the contest is run as an eliminator type contest)

Yes, they were rather rough on the parts, and it didn't look like any gaskets were used during assembly....but it was still fun to watch them trow two Fords together, pime them, and run them. (If I understood it right, the judges went back and checked torque on all fasteners to see that everything was installed and torqued correctly.)
