Default spam mail

Ever since I signed up for this forum I have been recieving spam mail in a private e-mail account that I do not use for anything suspicious.

I would like a response from the admin of this site to inform me if this is something related to your privacy laws associated with this site.

BonnevilleClub does not have any advertisers, sponsers or fees involved, it never has and spam mail ads will never be endorsed.

What I can assume was you publicly posted an email address on our public forums and you got hit with spambots.

You are one alone on this one, maybe some more information may help us to resolve this issue.

I get spammed in an account that I don't even use. Its part of the crap that comes along with the internet. If its a free, web based email account, welcome to the real world bud.

Try doing a search here on your email address to see if you posted it publicly. Warnings about posting it publicly are in the NOTICE forum. We put that there for your protection. When we see this happen, we try to warn people, or edit their posts to protect them. Simply putting in spaces works, or spelling out dot and at instead of the actual punctuation.

1. It is not a free e-mail account. It'* my own.

2. I have never posted it on this board. To my knowledge. I searched just inc ase, and nothing.

3. It is a private e-mail. Only used for select registrations. This is the last one it was used with. And nothing previous for months.

What other info would you need?

If you have never posted it in a thread then you are in the same boat as most of us--and as previously mentioned, we'd all be getting spammed by the same people. I know I have noticed no more spam since I've been here, I don't think BC is the problem. I have about five different emails, both free and paid for, they all get spammed, it'* a by product of surfing the net.

What is the subject matter of this email?

Car related? Bonneville related? GM related? Most spyware or email spammers send junk mail based on internet interests.

Example. A piece of spyware on your computer will see your on a car related page and generate an advert related to cars (ie financing or sales etc).

As I previously stated, we DO NOT generate ad, nor do we have any outside sponsers that send email from this site. I believe your problem is NOT BonnevilleClub related.

I suggest a through anti spyware/virus search of your computer.

One thing you mentioned got my attention. You said that you do use this email account to register at various places, and right after registering at BC you started getting spam. Well I am not sure if you know or not but it does take a month or so before all the companies have a chance to sell you email address to spammers and you start getting hit. I have yet to receive spam email on my account I use for BC but my email accounts that I have put in sigs on sites are nailed all the time with spam.
