SOS IN ORLANDO FLORIDA!!! SAVE ME!!!
Here I am in Kiss me Florida just outside Orlando. Our travel planners(my sister and mother) can not keep to the plans they made. It'* time to take charge and I need good places to go around Orlando. Disney World is a given, but what else do we have?

Hmm....Universal Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Gatorland, Swan boats at Lake Eola (maybe not a family thing, but still nice for those "date" times), Mall at Millenia, there are all kinds of shopping malls and outlets along the I4 corridor, but there is construction going on at the 408/I4 junction so be forwarned.
Daytona doesn't have much except beaches and the Speedway...I honestlywould not bring family here, the biggest portion of the people that live here are crackheads and other nasties. There are historical places nearby though, like the old Sugar Mill Plantation (or ruins of it) back from the Seminole Wars. Then there is St. Augustine....lots of history there, plus alot of haunted tours.
If you want to stick with Orlando for hotspots, then I would stay around the Sanford/Altamonte Springs or even Cocoa Beach and Titusville for motels, but since you are in Kissimmee then that might not be on your list at all.
Hell if my place wasn't so busy with training, I would offer to give you a tour of where I work at (JetBlue training center, flight simulator side)...

Well, I was off-line all weekend, so didn't see this and am probably too late, but...
Don't forget Wet-n-Wild, a great water park for the hot sunny days. Not mentioned.
