I get it that you all don't want certain things on the site, but is it wrong to ask why in a civilized manner? It seems this has been pretty civilized...that'* all you're asking for here, right? maturity and courtesy? It seems my posts have fit those catagories.

So, it seems there are 2 arguements to why these sigs are not allowed.

1. Bastard is vulgar and offensive.

So is the 'donkey punch' sig and the '****' pic that was posted. It seems that you all just want to pick on someone because you're not familiar with them...however, if someone you know does it, it'* ok.

2. 'Official' is misleading and could confuse members.

Official Bastard? Are you all afraid that someone is going to come on here with questions about bastards and end up getting misinformed? You mentioned that you don't want it to lead to other 'officials' down the road that maybe COULD be misleading. Can't that be a judgement call? I mean, it seems that the mods here are pretty active.

If you all insist on leading a one track policy no matter what, then i'll drop it. It'* not a big deal, it'* just hard to ignore the fact that the ENTIRE BOARD is in agreement with it...I mean, if I want to be a member here and do the research that I need to do, how do I know other rules aren't just as half-thought and closed-minded?

I think you are missing the point. This is a club full of people of a variety of ages. There are kids on this forum, and they do visit the lounge. Having your sig saying 'donkey puncher', or 'bastard' is highly inappropriate, and open to question. Having something like 'SLE specialist' does not stand out. So you see, this is open to discretion. The recent self-appointed ranks are causing a stir primarily because they inappropriate. We are not being closed minded and what not. We are just looking out for the best interest of the club.

Refer to my last post, where I gave my thoughts on that arguement.

1 member has 'donkey punch' in their sig, and another posted a pic with the word '****', both were in Kris' thread.

I wouldn't want my 5 yr old cousin to see it the next time he'* researching Bonneville'*.

Neither of those posters were warned, neither posts/sigs were edited.

EDIT: Do you all really have to get in the last word and call for a quick lock? Like I said, this is pretty mature...so if the maturity isn't the issue, it seems something else is.

Willwren has said he sent Kris a PM explaining why, so why do you got to make it a public point again? Why couldnt you just PM a Admin in the first place, so in reality your making this bigger than it is. You have allready seen the responses, so why bring up a touchy topic again?

In order to gain respect on this forum, you got to be here a little while and post on a regular basis. How would you like someone coming in your house and telling you what to do and saying offensive stuff (even though you might not think it is, some people take it the wrong way) The official bastard title is just childish and makes the board look bad when new comers sign on.

There are rules posted here somewhere, and my suggestion is to PM a Mod, Admin, or verteran if you got more questions dealing with this topic. Making it public like this only makes you look like a smart ***, and trust me, your not the first noob here that had raised commotion.

But my question hasn't been addressed. You all keep arguing your points, so OBVIOUSLY you are defending something...SO DEFEND IT. Is Donkey punch and **** as vulgar as bastard? If so, I believe there are at LEAST 2 other members that are due a PM.

You can't argue your side and then say, "There is no point in arguing, just drop it."

EDIT: Do you have to say 'a$$' in your post? I mean, are you getting around censors? Seems pretty vulgar to me.

EDIT 2: You are completely contradicting yourselves in every way. You are being black and white on some issues ('official'), and opening up a wide spectrum on others (what is vulgar, what is not).

If you think somebody'* sig is vulgar or lewd, then PM a mod or admin. Keep it private. If you want your questions answered, contact a mod or admin. Keep this stuff private, or you will keep making moutains out of molehills. There is no need to argue, but it'* too late for that. I say drop this now, and please contact the staff with your concerns.

Believe me. It'* better off to keep this stuff private.
