FWD isn't necessarily better, but it can be a little more predictable. Instead of spinning out you'll plow straight with too much throttle.

It'* best advantage is the ability to have so much weight over the front wheels to put traction down.

RWD can be driven in snow just fine with decent tires. It also give you the ability to correct for the front wheels plowing with a stab of the throttle.
