Default Sig Pics

I noticed the posting about sig pics in the NOTICE area. For you dialup people out there, Opera browser (www.opera.com) allows you to set it so it only shows pics that have already been loaded. So that sig pic wont be loaded every time that you look at a post, it will store it on your hard drive and then all you have to load is the text. I used it when we were on dialup and it worked great. Free software, very high quality.

Some are getting very tall. I don't like sigs that take up a screen or more. :?

Is there any reason that sig pics (and other sig info for that matter) can't have specific parameters, like the avatar pics? I agree it is quite annoying when a thread has 4 responses that take up 9 pages because of the extended signatures.

the sig pics are not stored on this server, they are linked to from another site. They have no control over the size like the avatar.

I'm suggesting there be a maximum size limitation. If people want no sig or just a little one with no image, that would be fine.

No direct server control, true. But if such a sig length limitation was in place, Admins could politely remind members of the policy if unnecessary text and gigantic images continued to be used in signatures.

I am on a network server, so download time is not an issue for me. But I would imagine that anyone using 56K has a hard time viewing just about any active BC thread, without waiting several minutes for sig images to download.

Yes you CAN set the amount of total characters that can be used, but not the size of the image since it is linked off-site. There is however a size limitation that is listed in the notices section and HAS been brought up, just seems that people don't read it.

Here it is in case people can't find the notices section, hehe.
