See what video game addictions result in??

Maybe I'm just strange. I was pretty damn careful not to do anything bad that would get me into trouble. I did some things that I shouldn't have, but for the most part I kept my nose clean. Why? I didn't want to even dream of what would happen if I hadn't.

I never really did anything bad when I was a kid.
Like I said, my mom was clueless, but I made good choices.
She raised me to be responsible, and I was. But she wouldn't have had a clue if I as out causing trouble.

When I was growing up, I used to get the belt. I dont know how many of you also got the belt, but it sure made me think long and hard before I did anything stupid.
As far as games? I had an Atari game console with about 20 or so games. My favorites were Defender, Asteroids, Missle Command, and Space Invaders

I never got it, and probably never would have.
I just respected my mom enough not to get into too much trouble. That, and I hate confrontation. I hate to fight, or to see people fighting.

Yea, things are very different from years ago. The most you can really do to a kid is timeout or take away something. I keep hearing of kids getting sent to their rooms which have computers, games, dvd players and everything else. That'* not much of a punishment to me.
Like I said earlier, when I was a kid I had fear of parents. Hell even the other kids were scared of my mom (some parents also). Yea I still did some things, but nothing like a lot of kids today are doing.
Me and some buddies joke around about back in the day and how we used to go get our own switches, or the reasons and styles of beatings we used to get. The kids look at us in amazement like we're from some fictional movie. Anyome remember the bag of belts incase 1 or 2 went missing?
I remember telling my mom ONCE that I would call child services......she put the phone between us and go for it. Then followed it with "I'ma beat you while you call them, while you packing your bags, and when they come to the doo"r. Then she said she'd beat them for interferring.
Moderation in our home meant we got to do what we wanted AFTER we did everything the parents wanted...which didn't leave much time to get addicted to anything or get into trouble.

Ditto. I got WHACKED when I did something really wrong, threatened if I was thinking about doing something really wrong. I didn't make the same mistake too often either. Sometimes, a little bit of brute force goes a long ways. It certainly left an impression on me... Now that I'm out and free, I do what I want, but what I do in no way harms anyone other than myself.
