Default scrap metal prices

how much is a short block 3800 worth to a scrap yard?

I overheard a guy talking to the gas station attendant how times are rough for him and he wishes there was more scrap metal to pick up. (must he his only job) I asked him if he wanted to follow me to my house and pick up a v6 engine block. He would love to! He wasn't all there mentally, but he was a very nice guy. I gave him the block and bunch of other scrap metal I had laying around in the garage. Anyone have an idea how much money I just gave that guy? I'm guessing it weighed 150lbs.

It was, iirc, 240/ton back when I scrapped my Sable.

steel is a few cents a #..Alum is alot more than that and brass and copper are through the roof. You were about right on the 20 dollar bill.I work with all type of alloys but I havent worked in almost 3 months since my accident.

There was no aluminum. The other stuff was steel motor mounts and exhaust manifolds.

Brass is through the roof right now. The last time I went to the range, there were almost more "brassers" than shooters.
