ATV trail at your front door, I'm coming in for a visit Johnny. Don't swing the rake if you see my truck with a big blue atv in the back.

Hey Steve.. odd little thing to keep in mind. Sounds like the trans is still full? Odd to me as the first thing in the procedure of removing for me is always "drain fluid" and I wouldn't want to transport a full trans because they leak and can fill the spare tire area. Anyhow if you don't plan on running or having the trans with fluid in it for a while....expect that the clutches may dry out a bit and slip at first. Once they get fluid back on them, they should be good.

They just think it'* a rake because they are so far away. You don't want to know what he is really waving around.

As far as the tranny goes, it looked like 3 gallons had already been drained, and we drained maybe another 2 when we got there. Don't worry, we used protection. Covered it with a black garbage bag before propping it with wood. Survived the trip just fine, and no leaks that I saw.

good luck with that Tommy the trans with converter only holds about 13.7 quarts hehehehe

it'* mostly drained and i think when it was puller he pulled the trans and motor together from the top and that is why it wasn't drained. but will look into it when i can manage to get it out of the trunk.

hmm, well I just saw the 3/5 full 5 gallon bucket of fluid sitting next to the trans and assumed that is where it came from. Then we pretty poured some more into the bucket and pretty well filled that oil pan. Oh well.

Probably. My post was mostly to mention that if the trans sits for a while dry, that clutch slippage may be noted when you first install it. After a day or so, the clutches likely have saturated again.

Propped her up with wood eh?

ya it'* got wood leveling it in the trunk for now. i understand the fact of slippage due to dry clutches. we had a little of that with the last one we did (that was dry as a sandbox). i think it has a couple quarts left in her. the T/C is still attached and unsure if it still has fluid in it (probably does) so that will be fun to take off in the trunk to make it easier to lift out. will find out later today. the other aspect is to see if the yard is dry enough to take the car across to the shed. really don't want to sink in mud.
