DBA is Doing Business As
for when you want your busniness / contractor name to be different than your name. You don't need a DBA if you contract out under your own name.

I didnt know what a DBA was either. I thought it meant "Doing Business As", but I was wrong. I looked it up on Google.

I never belonged to either one, but I think that BJ'* is hurting because they keep sending me free membership offers. I dont know if I should try it out or just put them in the lobby of my building for someone else?

A business card might still be required. The knucklehead at the counter first asked me for my DBA paperwork. I didn't have it, so he never proceeded with asking the remaining questions. Maybe a business card is still needed further down the list of qualifications to be a business member. And, like you, popatim, I never returned with all the correct paperwork.

And, I 100% agree with popatim...DBA stands for Doing Business As.

Sams, or any other place like that, is worth it if you want to buy anything in bulk. Most any item we've ever bought was at least 25% cheaper than the cost of buying in a traditional store. You should do some comparisons though before you blindly buy because not everything is cheaper, including soda.

Exactly. We never proceeded with the membership because the things we do buy are not enough of a cost savings to have to buy in bulk AND pay the membership fee. We save just as much money, if not more, by buying what need when there are huge sales at WalMart or Meijer.

We've been a member of Costco for over 12 years. We've purchased things like Tires, for the free flat repairs alone, let alone road hazard warranty and free balance and rotation. I'll even get an oil change there is it'* just to cold to do it in the winter, I think there oil, lube and filter is $18.95 can. We also get food, gloves etc. If you purchase enough items and get the executive membership then they give you 2% back and that pays for our membership. One thing you can't beat there is there return policy. You can return an item even after a year and get your money back although I don't encourage that.
