Aaron, 358ciHD is broken down just off of I-91 outside of Hartford CT. He picked up an 08 4500 Kodiak and is having issues, he was texting me and asked me to post this for him. If anyone is in the area and can help please give him a ring on his cell 1-505-947-4706, nothing worse than be stuck on Xmas eve with your kids and wife in a truck you just bought!
Here'* what he said was going on:
He had the gear with wrench light come on, which if I'm not mistaken is service trans light, he said the truck wouldn't shift into 5th or 6th gear
He kept on driving running the RPMs kinda high, 2,800 to 3k
Then the Check engine light flashed and showed that along with a down arrow and the truck shut off.
Anyone have an idea? I'm all the way down in MD or I'd try and give him a hand.
IF YOU HAVE A FIX CONTACT AARON ON HIS PHONE DIRECTLY, I don't think he has internet access.
Hopefully we can get him up and running.

ok just talked to Aaron for about 15 mins and he is in the Lebanon, PA area on I-78 and heading south west towards Nashville, TN trying to get home back to NM...
sounds almost like a fuel filter problem.
I had the same type of problem a while back; truck would not shift past 4th gear and speed down around 50-55 mph..changed out fuel filter and was good to go.......so this is the theory he and I agreed on at this point
also he has no trans temp gauge that he can find....no physical gauge and tried scrolling thru the DIC and could not find it....no INFO button on dash or steering wheel...only trip button on dash.......trans level is good and not smelly or burnt

He'* past chambersburg now on his way south on 81 he stopped at a TA travel center but they had a prolink scanner that couldn't communicate with his truck which sucks. He'* headed towards Tennessee now probably not going to be able to fix it until Monday.
Just talked to Aaron you won't believe this he was just outside of Roanoke and the rear end blew up on his truck and caught fire. Unbelievable sounds like the Christmas from hell.
I am like 12 hours away, Or else I would be there in a minute !
Aaron is having a terrible trip, I spoke with him as well. Stranded now in Roanonke. Anyone around to give him a hand. I think he got screwed on this truck by the seller.

I know the one guy said a fuel filter, but that makes no sense at all. Seems electrical, like a short perhaps. The trans went out first, then the engine gave up. What ever it is it'* not good.

Well he drove it all messed up how many hundreds of miles? Could have been something very simple to begin with and now living the consequences of a domino effect?
