point is, that if you want to watch it again, you already downloaded it, and take less bandwidth for the person that is hosting it. PLUS it will play without interruption if it needed to buffer more by just viewing directly from the server.

In the first case, if there are lots of people that continuously watch a video but not save it, and the bandwidth gets exceeded, less and less people will post videos.
