Default REALLY Cool...

Came across this today and thought it was really cool.

Click on satellite to switch to the real pictures. You can actually see a little grey rectangle on my driveway where the Bonneville is sitting. This is where I live...have fun!

I just tried one called TerraServer, and it doesn't even show two the two arenas that we have here in Columbus. The Schottenstein Center was built almost 8 years ago!

These aren't satellite photos as far as I know? There used to be planes that flew overhead at very high levels taking pictures of land. Sometimes you would get a letter in the mail asking if you wanted to buy a copy of a picture of your land from above. THe last time a photo of my home was taken (from one of these "sky" views) was 1991. Very outdated.

The one for my city is pretty new, since my Bonneville is on my driveway. I got it last July. And the new hockey arena we have is there and it just opened last december. I guess they just used old pictures from file for other places they already had.

I found my house with my car in the driveway...lol, it also shows the airport I worked on (opened in 2004), type in Mississauga in the search bar, and BAM its right there. I also found our construction site in NYC adjacent to Bryant Park at 42nd and 6th, the image of NYC and Jersey was taken in 2003, since a building our office worked on across the river (called 30 Hudson) in Jersey City is shown as under construction.

The thing I like about Google maps is, it has access to Canadian information unlike Keyhole which is US only.

Dan, aerial photos are a little different, Municipalities use them when laying out master plans and surveys and such, these satellite images is a whole different bird (and this bird is WAY WAY up)

my friend'* dad used that to look at our apartment here in rochester, and for some reason it comes up the green blurry stuff so he called my friend up and asked him if he was high when this was taken

I've found my house and apartment, as well as a couple junkyards with this.
