Default For the R/C fans here...

Ive owned an E-Maxx, Stampede, Rustler, Tamiya TL01, and now own a XXX Kinwald Buggy, but im not sure if I should spend the money and get it running again. I have 2 older matched 3000 packs, no charger, and im running an old GM v12 ESC. Im running a POS trasher Tower Hobbies speed secret 14t double.

Im kinda interested in nitro but, dont want the continuous cost of of the gas for it. I mean I still dont have my g2, and I havent started saving for a real car yet, so should I even bother. God I loved the hobby, but it was so expensive! I used to break the E once a week, and the parts werent cheap when differential gears were stripping all the time, half shafts, spur gears, shock towers........uggggh......

Anyways, any opinions on a new R/C, or if I should even bother?

i say sell what you got and get a nxt or RC10GT due to the parts are every where and not to pricy just a little extra cost to start and if you can get one in a kit form all the better and a little less cost off the top one thing you never think about is the cost of power to charg and the big hit you take to get the god batterys i used to race 1/10 stadum truck'* hear in colorado springs and it was great fun going with nitro is just the next step no recharg time and fuel is not that bad for the price of a good 3000 batt you can get 3 gallons of fuel and that will last you longer than you might think so it is a toss up faster pitstops for fuel - or less to tune is what it boils down to and stick with a big name maker on a gas truck it makes more of a dif if or when it breaks like ofna a frend got 2 years ago no longer makes the kit he has but the nxt he has had for 4 years is still bein sold so it is like appels to ornges

I"d get rid of the stampede and rustler. Keep the rest as you would have a variety of different class. NOthing wrong with electric just get yourself a nice trinity speedworks style machine wound motor.. ruby or something like that. I had the Diamond ( I believe thats what it was called ) 12T motor and my T3 hauled major ***. I had both T3 and XXXT and to be honest my T3 was way better IMO. Electric motor would sooner or later go faster then Nitro 14K+ RPM ( and can be increased by more voltage ( cells ) providing the ESC and other component can handle it and safeguarded from over heating. ).. Whereas Nitro is quick off the box, but not much faster you can go ( minus gearing but so can electric ).. Nitro and Electric both have their pros and cons. Depends on which one you're more into.

electirc: pros.. quiet so you can go out in middle of night and not have your neighbor complaining about the noise. Cleaner.. less likely to cause fire and blow up.. easier to work indoors with if you need to fire the engine to check tranny and or some other moving parts, and when the battery is dieing you will know and have most basic control to get the car out of a reals car way and or the wall. Lower Center of gravity. Instant torque Cons: Charge time, cost a lot more to get to the same speed as Nitro ( but with even more money would exceeds speeds of nitro )

Nitro: pros.. Sounds kewl and makes the car sound faster ( especially the sounds of 2 speed tranny.. in which case I would recommend a TC ( Touring Car for Nitro ). quick pit stops and fill up and go. Pretty quick out of the box, and bang for the buck it'* better. You'll probably go thru only 1 jug of nitro fuel a season ( well if you did it as much as I use to it was about 1 1/8 jug. cons:.. noisey if you want to drive around w. neighbors, messy ( especially if you can fuel spill and you don't thoroughly clean it ), can't work in it indoors without making too much noise, must store nitro fuel safely, if the battery for your receiver and such decides to quit.. you're pretty much SOL unless you have fail-safe return spring but even then it only goes that one way ( and if you're unlucky.. that one way is turned into a reals cars way ).. and whatever else is stated above

At the end of it.. it'* up to you which one you like. See if you have any friends with Nitro that you can try out and see how you like it. It is an expensive sport, one that I reluctantly have to shelf away for now cause of money.

I have Original Tamiya Blackfoot (driveable but not going to use it cause of lack of spare parts if I break it ). Yokomo MR-4TC, Associated RC-10L3.. had HPI Nitro RS-4 2.. HPI Pro3.. Tamiya lunchbox, Clod Buster, Blitzer beetle, F-1.. Traxxas Fiero for 3 weeks.. worked on friend other numerous different RC before and I don't know how Traxxas are with their Maxx series but from the previous experience hated it.. cheap breakable material and fit.

if any of you guys like the electric ones, buy an xmod from radio shack... they are so fun to mod... they are 1/28 scale... i took the motor from a crest spinbrush pro(yeah, the toothbrush) and modded it a bit, now im getting 40 scale mph on the stock 4-cell setup... fun stuff
