Yeah. You know. Transportation IS TRANSPORTATION. If it RUNS, its GOOD. It can help people get out of the worst situations and make things better. Not everyone can afford a good car right away, nor can they wait around and save or just wonder if it will come.
I'm sure he doesn't like it very much that he has to drive old cars, probably just as much as I like driving MY old car. Its not FUN but it needs to be done.

Telling you that you are making a mistake is not being mean or offense. Grow up. And where do you get the silver spoon from? MOST people here are on tight budgets. Biased Opinion? How about honesty? If you do not really want advice, then don't ask. It'* simple.
<end of mom rant>
Now, as a moderator, I'm sorry if you truly feel that you were offended. I'll review the thread, however from what I've seen, no one was offensive.

The members who posted here are looking out for William'* best interest, as they always have. He continues to go against the advice he seeks. So fine, that'* his choice.
Hey Pinkster... If your friends can't look out for your best interest, who will?

you best bet right now is to figure out your budget on what you can spend total. Then find a car that is under that cost, and whose inital repair costs are less than the remainder.
For example, that S10 you posted didn't look bad. By far the best one you posted about.
Another thing to look for is how much the cars value may go up when repaired. I always try and find the car that will atleast get me back the amount I invested in it initially, if not a little more. When playing with $400-500 cars, there is ease for this, if you know what to look for. In your case, you seem to be all over the gamit with what you are looking at. Narrow it down and learn some about a few specific cars that you can usually find cheap, then look for those. I have found recently a bunch of cheap cars in Buffalo, NY on Craigslist.
Second, if you are going to ask us for opinions, why not give us a price range, what you are looking for, and how far you are willing to travel. Some of us can check out areas and find stuff you might not have seen, and check it out for you.
Oh, and the 89 Cutlass XC Special Edition you looked at here sold for $250 the day before I was going to buy it. That would have been a good car for you.
