Default Question about a GA GT...

Ok, so I finally get a REALLY clean Bonne, and I absolutely refuse to drive it in the winter (rust-free former southern car), So I have been on the search for a winter car. I came across a 2-door 96+?? Grand AM GT sitting in my mom'* mobile home park. It looks like this but black -

It has the 2.4L Twin Cam, and from what the owner says, it has a blown head gasket. Has the classic white smoke from the exhaust and goop in the overflow tank. They drained the oil and coolant and it has been sitting for a few months. The new parts that are needed are in trunk, and he said when he finds the title, I can have it for free. Should I chance it? I don't really want to put money into it, as it will be a winter beater. So... Opinions?

stay away. you DONT need anymore car issues. Keep what you have, and drive it. It'* not a collector car. Look good in the winter and drive it!

besides being stupidly slow (beat my friend'* in the curves with the 89..yes...that sad) they're a very unreliable car. steer clear. find a beater bonne for the winter and save the 92.

Yeah screw that thing. I just remembered my past experience with a head gasket on one of these. I'm not gonna mess with it.

OH! I forgot about the one near me. '91 Bonne LE with 150k on it. It'* fairly clean and has almost no rust. For $300, maybe I should go check it out. My dad gave me $300 to buy a car with.

Will, that car was never a southern car. It originated in WV and was there for most of it'* life. Fix it and drive it. As Haro said, it'* not a collectors car, it'* just a car... I can't think of one car here that isn't a daily driver, heck, even Venom and 8 ball gets driven every day. Just my two cents
