Default Question about 01 Impala(about coolant)

Ok I got the parts I need to fix the blinkers after put them in I poke head under the hood.
I found that the coolant is like sludge on top in the radiator and the rest very very dark cooler. I also found that oil level was aslo low. IT has 3400 with 112k on it And their looks very damp around top of the motor esp were the intake is. Does any one know if these cars have intale problems.
Didn't see any bubbles in the oil. Not quite sure but the oil looks slightly milky

Yep, they do. Lower intake gaskets are VERY weak in the 3100 and 3400. And, the job is harder on the 60 degree v6s than on the 3800s. You have to pull the lifters on that 60* engine.

Your best bet is to check out 60degreev6.com for all the info.

ok talk to the dealer about it. They siad to change the coolant and go from their. For the record it has dex-coolant and that it gets sludgey after awhile. Not sure if that is really true. They only car that I worked that had dexcoolant was our old 01 cavailer and that did head job on. It only had 60,000 ,but on that car the coolant was go into the oil

Master...I'd bet someone topped it off with green one day. That sounds worse than standard Dex cool sludge.

On that 60 degree being harder like Mark says..I saw one at the junkyard recently 1/2 apart. The gasketing and design for the intake gaskets is really odd looking.

Master, I'd go careful 'cause it sure sounds like you may have LIM gasket problems (from the symptoms you described). The fact that your oil looks milky is my concern.

Do you have any hesitation or stumbling?

Well that oil acrood to sticker is about 3400 miles over do for change. So what I am going to to do. Is change oil and coolant then tak from their. That is good point billboost37 never thought about that.
