McAfee plain sucks. No question about it. Norton is good but takes up ALOT of system resources. Avast is my weapon of choice; lightweight, free, and powerful.

Not impressed with any of the 3. Don't believe there is such a thing as bulletproof anymore. The rogue program "Windows Police Pro" ran right over my Premium Norton. Came in through a torrent and not only outsmarted Norton, but actually set it up to be blocked by Windows Firewall as...... a virus itself. I ended up reformatting the hard drive. What really irked me was the fact that while PolicePro was roaming around, Norton refused to acknowledge it or give immediate support. And still mum about it and other rogue programs of it'* caliber. Possibly to keep ahead of these rouge programmers? In the end, both sides of the coin have some very smart people coding. It isn't ever going to be a safe e-world. I back up continually on an external. Best way to protect yourself.

I honestly hate Norton. worst anti-virus I've ever used. I use a mix of MalwareBytes, AVG Free, Avast and SpyBot *&D. all are free. and if you're looking for the best paid one, Kaspersky is the way to go. I'm in college for this kind of stuff plus multimedia design..lol.
