Default Proper car naming etiquette

My friend had a 96’ Bonneville for many years and it’* name was Bonnie. Recently he purchased an 05’ GXP and says he is going to call it Bonnie as well and the 96’ will be referred to as Old Bonnie. This can’t be right, we have gone back and forth on the “proper” way to name a car. I say that you can’t name a car the same name as the previous car, you should come up with a new and unique name. What are your thoughts how do you name your car'*?

I have always tried to incorporate something into the cars name that reflects some aspect of the car. (example) I have a 78' GMC Diablo (El Camino SS) that is named El Diablo, and a Taurus that is named Seafoam (because of the color) and a Lumina that is named Transportation since it'* an A to B car.

Of course, this is in jest, but he would relent if it came from a relevant source.

Um....errr.....Gray?? It'* some kind of metalic color. The interrior is gray and has these little suede inserts that are almost white, and the dash has CF pieces around the AC vents.

When I was a kid I had a 78' Buick Lesabre that was named Booger and the interrior matched, originally it was called Slimer but Booger stuck (rdrr).

When I had my Tbird SC, it'* name was Broke Bird, Although I just usually just glared at it. Whatever possesed me to trade a junker *-10 for a thunderbird with a manual transmission...Oh right it was the supercharger whine that I liked.

I know this is America, but I told him he'* taking the easy way out. He always tells me that because his 87' El Camino is Clyde, that it has to be Bonnie. It'* not like the name for a car has to be right now give it a few months. It'* not like a kid that you had 9 months to prepare for (you don't want to know how I named my Daughter).
