It'* a Canon PowerShot G3 Digital camera, approximatly 4 years old and hardly used. A couple of days ago I went to use it and the display screen on the back is totally white. It lights up as if to have to much contrast but there is no picture showing whether it be in picture or view mode. I have:
Re & re the battery.
Charged battery
replaced the card
blown the hinge where the display is attatched to
Turned it on & off several times
Pressed every botton imaginable
Taken pictures but no display is showing.
Any suggestions?

If the battery went dead then you actually may need to reset the lcd brightness back down; unfortunately you'll need to do it 'blind' since you can't see the menu. I had to do this once when my camera'* internal battery died. Can you switch the image from the LCD to the viewfinder?

I beleive it is a loose or dirty connection, I hit the back of the display fairly hard and it worked for a bit. I think I need to take it apart and use some contact cleaner.
You got nothing to lose Frank, open her up (just watch out for the flash capacitors).
My brother got an old Canon Digital Elph (S110?) for free the other time and we managed to open it up, clean it, and fix the sticky zoom toggle switch thing.

Well, I tapped the back of the display and it started working again, but only for about 10 minutes. I took it apart and sprayed contact cleaner everywhere and it worked again for several minutes and now it'* not working again.........Frig.

Oh, the OTHER head office...
I'd like to see what Canon'* service is like, without having to test it myself.
