Default power steering leak on 3.4L lumina

before i go to the w-body forums, i figured id ask here..

i'm losing the entire PS fluid tank in 100-150 miles...i have resorted to buying the large containers of cheap PS fluid and continuously filling it up...

i cant see any visible leaks, but there isnt really much to see on this motor..

anyone had experience with this? do you think i should be looking at a leaking line or a leaking pump?

on all my w-bodies: my current gp, my old gp, as well as my old regal, I had the same problem. The regal had a small hole wore in one of the rubber PS lines, but wouldn't leak fast enough to get on the ground- just would drip off when I was moving. I replaced it with one off a j/y regal. The old GP had a leaky rack, which I just put up with until i sold it. The current gp, on the other hand, leaks from the bottom of the pump... which I havn't gotten around to replacing yet. From j/y'ing, i have seen many w-bodies with leaky racks. FWIW, i used some of that leak stop in the old GP, and it slowed the leak down considerably.

hope this helps

thank god its not the rack or pump..

i can see the line leaking.. but its tough to get a shot of it...

found out that its really only leaking when its being turned all the way.. fluid shoots out to the point that the tank is gone in seconds...

my dad is looking online to see how long the dealer wants to replace the pressure line, i might just bring it to the shop, cuz i dont have time to work on it this weekend

dealer wants 3 hrs... hose looks to be ~$150 in the book

my original plan was to go home to white, sd this weekend just to see my parents, but now its going to turn into a visiting/working on car weekend... ill take the car to my dads shop saturday afternoon and we will get it done... probably using a cheaper aftermarket hose...

and my dad will get to see my gem for the first time
