Unhappy Possibly my last post.. Car buying advice?

Sold my Bonneville yesterday :[

I'm going to look at a '93 Explorer this week. It'* $900 and i just need it to last me a few months, but I want some advice.

What things should I check? The guy who bought my car checked the oil cap, radiator cap, and transmission fluid and everything. What stuff under the hood should I check, and what should I check it for? I've got some car knowledge but I need some help here

Also, what should I check on the body? Rust wise, I know it has some, but not to what extent. Where should I look for it, and how bad is acceptable? I've got some bondo skills, but nothing that'* gonna fix a heavily rusted car.

Anything I can check on the interior that will tell me what condition the car'* in?

Any advice is greatly appreciated; I'm really gonna miss this forum

Hopefully i'll be back someday with my 00+ SSEi

Being a PA native, rust is really becoming a big issue here. Inspection Station Enforcement Officers are on a big crackdown on stations passing cars that have any rust hole that can cause someone to cut themselves on. I have 2 friends who own shops and both have been told duct tape and urethane foam (local widely used remedies) are out and don't comply. I am in the middle of rebuilding my truck and having to replace the rear bumper for pinkie size rustholes and putting front fender flares on the conceal minor rust damage.

Just because you dont have a Bonneville doesnt mean you have to leave, we even have a Moderator who drives a Ford.

I know rust is a big problem now. Sometimes I just wish I lived in ohio.
The car that was supposed to be my first car didn't pass because of rust.
Lucky for me, the place I take my car to isn't too too strict on inspecitons; but I still wanna make sure it'* not a big problem.
From the pics, I can't see much rust besides the wheel wells, which I can fix. But I'll still have to take a look underneath... :/

No need to leave us just cause you change cars. I had a 92 Explorer 4X4 and loved it. I needed a full size truck and traded it in.

The only big problem I had with my Explorer was that the transfer case went South and I had to have it rebuilt. Other than that, the front locking hubs needed to be tore apart, cleaned and put back together.
