Pontiac Sunfire
Alright, I'm hoping that you guys can help me out. My girlfriend found this car she really likes, it'* a 96 Sunfire SE. It'll be her first car. Now my main concern is the mileage: 95,000. It is selling for $2,000. I test drove it (very thoroughly) myself and it felt just fine. Anyone know anything about 'em that I should know? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!!!

I don't know that much about Sunfires, but I can tell you that the few people I know who've owned them (used, with plenty of miles on them), have been very happy with them...

The 2.2 GT Sunfire is nice, low pro wheel, nice rims, peppy to, decent car, not very safe tho. My good buddy was killed in his.
The SE is a bit toned down, decent puddle jumper car, just be careful....

Ok in 96 anyhow the GT model has the 2.4 dohc 4cylinder engine, but the one being looked at is the se so it would have the 2.2 motor in it. My friend has a 96 cavi with the same motor, the only thing about the motor is the lifters tend to tick, my friend said its a easy fix just need some spare time and torque specs. But other than that the car runs good. Oh his cavi has like 75k on it.

My friend got a 97 convertible. The car is strong, for the abusement it takes it holds up real good. No major problems except a lifter noise at cold start up. By its a 2.4L with 88K miles.
