I actaully REALLY like the center-mount guages, although the plastics seem sub-par (although I find this to be a GM-wide phenomenon)

I really liked my Ion and the think that the Cobalts are better than the Ions.

And guess what is happening after to the 2006 GTO's ;)

I've never thought the Cobalt was bad, and definatly would have considered one for the replacement for the GA way way down the road. I'm liking the look of the G5 though, should be interesting to see how well it does.

EDIT: Just checked both sites, the interiors are still different.

If you would have read what I quoted it would have been quite clear that I was refering to the ION and the G5. I understand that the difference between the G5 and Cobalt are marginal, there are still some differences. Although I directly implied that they were identical, I admit fault. I would not in any way say that the interiors are substantially different.

I would imagine the ducts are the same, different vents.
They use IDENTICAL (I'm not wrong this time) climate controls.
I sat in an ION today, I can vouche that the window controls in the door are the same.
Same shift handle.
Same headunit, different trim surrounding it.
Passenger airbag indicator, almost the same, different location.

If you want to get petty, yes, they are different. They have the same stuff though, in almost the same location (many times in the same location).

I like the G5. Solid candidate for those looking for a good, small, efficient starter car.

The front and dash get a 10 but the rear styling gets a 2

Yes they are pretty much similiar but have differnet enough styling and interior trim that they are distinguished from themselves(hopefully enough that they can capture different parts of the market). It think its great that they share parts and R &D yet are somewhat dissimiliar. GM cannot keep building mere rebadges and retain marketshare just because they are GM like they did in the late 70s and 80s.
