Default PLEASE HELP! Buick, Olds, Potiac, GMC product preview gauges!

Hi there. Just looking for a little info on this item I picked up recently. It has a plaque on the top that says it is a product preview of the 1978 line. Also looks like it had "928B" written on it in marker on the back for some reason. Not sure if that means anything. Just wondering if anyone has seen something like this before, or has one, or knows where I can find out more about it (where it came from etc.) I live in Michigan about 30 miles outside Battle Creek, so I'm very interested to find out what it is. Pics attached. Any and all help is appreciated!

Also, if I posted this in the wrong area, please let me know so I can move it!

-Brian

Not sure really. But it looks like a standard issue indoor thermometer/humid-stat/barometer. But the brass plate intrigues me. I can't seem to find anything else similar on Google or anything to 928B. If it was some sort of anniversary gift or retirement gift, then I doubt 928B would be handwritten.

Are there any other markings or stamps or anything else on it?

Nothing else marked on the outside. I wouldn't have looked at it twice if it weren't for the plate on the top.

Very interesting. I wonder if it is like a salesman sample, or a product presentation sample.
Normally if it is a retirement it would not say Product Preview.
It would have a presented to in appreciation for... etc
A dealership could have been looking for products to sell in showroom etc...

At first glance, it appeared to me to be some type of desktop 'award', possibly given to a dealership employee who [won] participated in some type of product preview at the time. Definately a head-scratcher.
