place your bets
How long do you think this C-size battery can power this CD-drive motor out of an old portable CD player?
I have had it running for 13 hours so far with no signs of slowing down.

You just reminded me of the time I took one of those discovery kits you used to get (this one was the electric motor kit) that ran off of batteries, and plugged it into 120V.
I remember seeing only a bright light coming from the motor for a split second, then afterwards...charred remains of the motor
I was only 10 when I did this.

I once took apart a clock radio that ran off 110v, and took the little inverter box out of it, and strapped the box to my favorite remote control car that ran of 2 AA batteries. I then proceeded to take a power wire from the inverter and hook it up to the motor and make it all work.
It was no longer cordless, but that little bugger HAULED. I dont know how much power I was pushing to that thing, but it finally blew one day.

But they do last a very, very long time.
