Another 2 weeks go by and still haven't found work. I've tried going through a couple Temp. places, But no luck, Couldn't find much else. Now I've started calling random places and hit paydirt on the closest pizza hut about 5 blocks away. I called and they said they we're hiring for delivery drivers. Doing this job is an idea for me since I know the area good and I get to ride in my cushy Bonneville. On the otherhand driving my Cushy Bonneville would be the con as well. Gas mileage is bad right now, But might be fixed soon with a new o2 sensor and other things. To get my car Delivery worthy I need to get insurance and renew my plates (expected cost anywhere from $185 to $250 depending on the estimates I've recieved) Anyhow I have to ask, Is delivering pizzas a decent job? Or is the cost of gas, insurance, repairs, and everything else a car needs worth it?

Pizza delivery isn't a bad job, it'* a great second job for me. Yes, it'* great to drive around in the Bonnie (not right now since she'* down.... :( ) and listen to music. It'* actually relaxing. The main thing about it is attitude. You gotta have a good attitude about it, take the good with the bad and things will work out over the long run. So far, even when I was driving the Bonneville, it was worth it, repairs have been minimal before the Bonnie and insurance wasn't too bad. You have to be quick to make money, not meaning you have to speed, just know where you are going, get there, get back and keep going. Go for it I say.

Pizza deliver is not a bad job. I know many people who have done it for extra money or while they were looking for work. Gas costs would be my only concern. Heck my friend delilivers pizza on the side with his BMW 528i

I kept following up at the dealership, But business slowed down and they haven't hired anyone yet if they will.... So that job is out.

I haven't changed the o2 sensor yet. I HAVE it, But since shes down I didn't bother.

That will change soon though....

Back in the 80'* I deleivered pizza partime but 6 days/wk and brought home $300+ per week just in tips.

Its a busy area, So lots of deliveries = Lots of tips?

How does the pay work w/tips?

Is it like... Base wage, Lets say $7.50 and whatever tips I get I keep 100% right?

Or do I only make money per delivery?

Mine was under the table $1/hr plus I keep all tips

The way my company works is base pay (hourly wage) plus a portion of the delivery charge (2.00, 1.35 is mine) and of course all the tips. It may vary from company to company, but expect something like that.

You get your hourly wage (usually minimum wage to start.) Plus $1.50 per run for the franchise I work in. You get to keep 100% of the tips too. The driver'* at my store make more than I do.

So basically say you have ten deliveries in a night working five hours and make $30 in tips. You would get....

$7.15 X 5= $35.75 in wages
+
$1.50 X 10=$15.00 for delivery charge to the customer
+
$30.00 in tips
=$80.75 in five hours, or on average $16.15/hour.
