i just downloaded photoshop 7 and i can not figure out how to take things from one image and put it onto another. where do you guys learn all the tricks? im not a pro with computers, but i have some knowledge of how things work i just cant figure this out any help is apreciated!

look for a photoshop e-book on a peer to peer network of some sort (Kazaa, etc...) i found one that i could brush up on my paintshop pro skills (but i doubt that it would help you much, lol)

Photoshop uses layers. You only work on whats selected as well. These two things are very important. So when you have what you want to copy selected, copy it and go to the other image and paste it. It will create a new layer with whatever you pasted on. Layers are so nice, because you can manipulate some items while keeping others the same. I did my signature in Photoshop. I had the original 2304x1704 res pic, i cut the res down to 25% of the original, then i lopped off the top and bottom of the canvas. I selected just the car, then did an inverse selection so everything BUT the car was selected. I did a two filters on the backround, and then i did text. Each text box gets it'* own layer as well.

i see what your saying bonnieboi, but when i use the magic wand tool or select things, it will not let me copy. i figured out how to save onto another layer...but the option wont let me highlite it, it just says copy to "new layer" what am i doing wrong?

Ok i dont know if this is just being missed but you have to Paste it as well. when you copy something it stores it in memory, then you can paste it as much as you want.

you have to be able to copy in order to paste correct? i cant get it to copy even...let alone paste.

Make sure in your layers window that the layer selected is the one that has the content in it that you're trying to copy.
