Here is my solution to get gas prices to go down. Take it for what it'* worth.

Tax breaks/credits on new small car purchases. We already offer it on hybrids, no matter what size they are. Don't TAX every SUV because that'* just money Unka Sam is gonna get. We also oughta bring back the car/truck crossovers...El Camino, Ranchero, and yes even the Chrysler Rampage/Scamp...this would help take the load off of fuel-thirsty trucks and SUVs.

More research into lower-friction materials and construction. Technology-wise, I think the internal combustion engine is as good as it will get. But I am almost certain that the materials that go into them play a certain part in how efficient they can be.

MAGLEV trains. The US NEEDS this. Cross-country travel can be done with these, taking the burden off of diesel trains, aircraft, and long-distance car trips. Boom...less fuel.

They tryed that in the 70'*. That'* where the 55MPH speed limit came from. You notice it'* gone now most places, right???

Also, I get my best mileage at about 70-75 MPH. MPG is more about driving style than speed.

You should see our gas prices....
5.30/us gallon by this summer they are predicting. with one gallon of fuel reamaining in my bonneville thats rougly 90 dollars to fill up...with regular...and we all know you cant do that.
If it gets that high, my Alero is going to get used alot more.

Then riddle me this, why do we even have a government if what you're saying is true? Are you saying that we live in an extreme libertarian society? Last time I checked, we're a democracy, so I don't know what you're talking about. This is why we have a legislative branch, to create legislation to tell us what to do. I'm not gonna get into politics, that'll just get messy, and we're all entitled to our own views so let'* agree to disagree. If you have a better way of lowering gas prices, I'd love to hear it instead of you trying to shoot me down .

Lol, I can agree to disagree, but I don't think there'* anything we can do to lower prices. The only thing we really have control of is making more money. This may seem simplistic, and harder than it seems, but if you're working a full time job, you can work part time. One thing I've noticed about this club is a LOT of people are skilled in cleaning! I personally suck at detailing/washing, etc, but there are a lot of people who are good at it, and could probably start a part time business doing that. I've started a part time performance shop, it'* what I like to do, and I'm fairly good at it. The money made from that will mostly go into my gas fund. Anything over that will go back into the business. I know it'* a little off topic, but in my opinion that'* the way to go.

In the 70'* when there was gas lines and a $5 cap limit on gas people started car pooling, driving mopeds, and even staged a one day boycott of gas which brought supply way up and sent the message the greedy oil companies.
Prices came back down, then the coffee makers got in the game to try their way at capitalistic greed.
Today this generation just says "what can you do? I have to go to work"?

please give a source here. because ive heard about this "success" way too many times. logically, it doesnt even make sense. drop demand for one day to raise supply, sure. and then the next day when demand spikes because everyone who didnt get gas that day needs it the next?

demand goes up, never down. you can drop it for a day, but youre only taking out a loan against tomorrow.

for a boycott to work, youd need something long-term to "send a message" -- and the american public doesnt have the stomach for a long-term boycott of something like gas -- we need gas because we commute to work. you may as well try to boycott food.

And everybody talks about the "greedy oil companies" as if it'* 10 or 15 people making billions and billions of dollars. I don't remember the exact number, it'* either 49 or 51% of exxon mobil is owned by average americans through 401k'*, or mutual funds, stocks, whatever. So when ya feel like shootin' yourself in the foot, yeah, let'* take down those greedy, nasty oil companies!
