Guess what email I got today???? Notice my actual email address and the return path address. Thought I would share since this scam is going around and many of us use Paypal.

One thing that needs to be made clear here, the problem is not paypal, so don't boo them. I've had my paypal account sence 1997 and never had a problem with it. Why? Because I don't use my primary Email address as the log in address. What does this do for me? One, it'* easy to find a persons Email addres when they use it, and with time, can perhaps crack the log in. I use my paypal log in Email for that only, it'* not used for other Emails. Much harder to find and crack. Second, I've been doing online security starting WAY back in the mid 1980s, that'* right WAY back before the internet was mainstream and fidonet was the big thing. I never belive any Email saying please check your account. I delete it, then go to that account with my browser. Nearly all account hackings come because a mistake was made, belived an Email and linked form it, wrote down a password and threw it away only to have a dumpster diver get it. Or use a bad password like password, or your name. Paypal is a good service, I take orders threw it, and make purchases. There security is only as good as the password you enter, and protect.

Well this is how I think it happened:

I play World of Warcraft, which has an in-game currency. Some ppl are lazy like me and buy gold and these services wills end it to you. I bought $5 worth of gold, which was only 100gold which wasn't much. I used my paypal address with the same password as my login for the site that sold the gold. Then, I paid via paypal w/ my debit card. I believe somebody thought..."Hey, I'll see if this login on our site works on his paypal account.."

My pp was vigcs@hotmail.com
My actual hotmail inbox has the same PW as my paypal as well...they got into my hotmail address and changed my password. My security question is 6 years old so I don't remember the answer, hehe.

**** sucks, but Paypal promised me my money back.
