I'd withdraw the money, go spend it on the beer, and send a thank you and notification of what I did. I would proceed to drink the beer, and then send money back a day later(given the situation would allow a day of fun), just to torture said friend a little. I wouldn't keep it, but he/she wouldn't live it down!
