Ok so I may have the opportunity to sell my '97 4x4 RAM to my neighbor and purchase a '00 Cherokee. They both have the about same mileage (80k on the RAM, 71k on the Cherokee. I don't know all of the particulars on the Cherokee yet and will be going to see it sometime tomorrow.
Any of you guys know of any problems that I might run into with a Cherokee? I have had a few friends that have had them and had nothing but good luck with them. This one will be coming from a retired couple that I believe have owned it since new and only used it to tow their boat around.
Let me know.

Nope, not a grand cherokee... And I know all about the longevity of the 4.0L i6. Those things just GO! I don't think I could afford a Grand Cherokee right now. This Cherokee is being sold for the same amount as what I can get out of my truck.
Everything just needs to fall into place for this to happen. If not, I'm passing on it all.

Well, quick update.
I'm running down to look at it now. It'* a '00 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 with the inline 6 4.0L engine. It'* dark green and barring any problems that I find, I'll probably end up purchasing it. Just have to figure out if my next door neighbor wants my truck.
Please, keep the info coming though. I want to know about any problems anyone knows of or has experienced with these vehicles.
TIA

Well... This wasn't meant to be. I think I'm going to see what I can find in the Grand Cherokee because I just don't think I could go with something that small inside. It looked nice and all, but the A/C wasn't working, although I was assured that it was just working the other day, and there were some electrical issues with some of the power windows. All of which are probably easy fixes and the owner said he would take them into consideration on the price, but I don't think the size is right for me.
I could deal with a Grand Cherokee with the 6 mainly because I'm not too sure of the reliability of the 8'* in the GC'*. Keep up the info!!!
What other SUV'* are there in the size catagory with the GC'*?

Twister...you're thinking of the Durango.
Out of all the SUVs you looked at, I would only go with a Cherokee. The Exploders are junk. Very poor build quality. Plus, they're known to have transmission issues. I had one and will never have another.
You could always look for a Blazer. The 4.3 Vortecs are very strong motors (they're a 350 with 2 cylinders lopped off).
