Default The Other Bonneville Forum

I don't see why there has to be two. It is too hard for me to look at both all the time, and I really don't want to become a member there, cause then I have to worry about more usernames and passwords.

Why can't we just combine these two forums and make everyone happy?

The new forum, BIP, was created in for people who want their Bonneville information and not have to deal with the sometimes "chatty" nature of BC. Their ship is MUCH more tightly run, for better or for worse. A lot of people don't really like the fact that they don't take any BS over at the new forum, and those who rock the boat certainly aren't made welcome.

Many BC members are BIP members as well. Personally, I like the choice. BIP arose from the old bonnevilleintensity site run through Yahoo!. BIP effectively takes the place of bonnevilleintensity.

The other forum is not affiliated with this one nor will it ever be. They are being run by different people for different reasons. Like mentioned in the previous reply, it was to replace bonnevilleintensity. Which was created for an information forum not a chat forum. If you are worried about usernames and passwords, use the same user and pass in both. The passwords are encrypted in the database anyhow so no one would be able to find them.

Both forums have their place. I'm glad we have a choice, and I choose both. Call me greedy.

There are some sections on BI that are dedicated SOLELY to performance improvements. Some of them extreme. All of the other sections are a little more specific, so it should be easier to find what you're looking for as the postbase grows.

This one is more of a social atmosphere. I really do like both. I also use the same username and password at both. The format is the same, so it'* easy to get around.

I actually think these two will be good for each other. If you don't like one, you have somewhere else to go. If you like both, you're a happy camper like me!

You're correct BIP Was made to replace BI on Yahoo! I found Yahoo to unco-operative when it came to control of the group. Therefore I got Mike (sse1990) to make a forum for me instead. BIP is using the EXACT same Rules of Conduct that BI did. You're also correct in the fact I don't "chatting" on an "Information Forum". There is already lots of sites out there that offer "Chat" (MSN, ICQ, mIRC & Yahoo Messanger just to name a few). Yes I don't like BS either as it distracts members from finding the info they are looking for. Yes there is also alot more sections there too than here! I think overall though it'* like comparing "Apples & Oranges" when trying compairing BC & BIP! Both have their unique purpose on the WWW. As for WHY there is two different sites? Why not? The Same Question can be asked on both Forums & I'll bet you will get either 2 different answers Or 1 answer from 2 different view points! I am trying to make BIP more "Performance" based too, instead of just the everyday questions & problems, hence the name change to "Bonneville Intensity Performance" over "Bonneville Intensity"! My ultimate goal for the site is to rival Club GP Forum! Let them (Club GP) know that Bonnevilles have potential too in the "Performance" market!

Hope you don't think I was speaking negatively of BIP for the chatting thing - just spelling out for Sol what he can expect. Besides, I do agree with you to an extent, though in all honesty I'm a little more relaxed about the situation.

In a relatively free society, it'* good to have a choice. I'm happy to be a part of both forums. I've been helped equally by both.

I do not consider your comments negative in any way. I was just using your post as a base to state my opinion that was all. It does all boil down to "choice" after all! Choice to go to work. Choice to drive a car. Choice to surf the net.

I just think it would be more convienient if the two sites merged, so then we could really beat out that GP forum.

I've experienced something similar to this in the Simpsons Web Community. I stick with one forum, full of more techical people, but there is one more big one that attracts the masses. I stay away from that one since they are crazy. After the two forums keep attacking each other, more people broke off and made their own. Now there are about 10 forums in that community, which is just too much. I probably made this topic because I am just a little paranoid with the whole forum splitings.

The two forums will never merge! They're too different too ever come to a compromize I would agree to. Besides: One man'* convience is another man'* choice! Different flavours is good or you the type of guy who only believes there should be one car model, one flavour of ice cream, etc???? Freedom to choose is the only thing that makes use different from most of the rest of the world! Life would be boring & plain if we just no choice in what we could drive, or read, or say, or in this case view!
