Default Orange Lightning !

Last night on the way home I saw some really powerfull orange lightning stikes. These strike were ground to cloud and nearly vertical with no branching arc'* you usually see.
When I first saw it out of the corner of my eye I thought it was some light show or something, but not once I started paying better attention. I grabbed my camera but by the time I go back to where I had a good view the front had moved off. :(

Anyone else ever see orange lightning? That was really weird.

well Google found that orange lightning is usually associated with crop circles...LOL
Anyone want to fly around the Baldwinsville/ Camiluus area around Syracuse?

Well I emailed the local news weatherman , Wayne Mahar, and he got back to me that he actually saw it too. He said the orange color was caused by polutants in the atmosphere that night.

It takes a brave person to actually admit to running and hiding

Before then, neither had I. Now to find out who'* polluting so much that its only occuring now. I've live in this area for over 30yrs and lightning has always been white.

I was coming back from New Jersey to my home on Long Island, NY and I'd have to say around NYC and such I saw orange-ish lightning too. When I was barely able to make out the moon between the clouds at times it seemed to have an odd tint also.
