Default OMG, what a stench!!

Well, as almost every other MN member has mentioned already, it'* been the hottest summer here in about a decade. So, of course, something had to happen to make it even worse for me....

So, last Thuirsday, I was up before the sun having my wakeup smoke before I hopped in the shower. I noticed the neighborhood stray cat was sitting in my back yard. No big deal, he'* a stray. Then I realize, he'* gotta know I'm here and he hasn't run away yet. That'* different. So, I move a little and make a little noise, just to make sure he'* okay. Normally he'd bolt, but he doesn't. And now, I'm close enough to notice some chewing noises. I figure he puked up a furball, and wanted some of it back. So, I move and make noise again. Still nothing. Something'* definitely up now.

I go back in the house and grab the keyring flashlight. Come back out, wander over to him, and this time he bolts. I gotta see what the deal is, so I shine the light where he was. Guess what I found. A half a rabbit (the left half, I think it was). Eeewwww....

No big deal, I grab some latex gloves (my mother-in-law has a tracheotomy The Missus has to clean occasionally, so we have a stockpile of surgical gloves) and 3 plastic Target shopping bags, pick up the remains, triple wrap and toss 'em in the can. Done deal, I think to myself.

Well, yesterday evening, I decide it'* time to take the trash out. Even triple wrapped, the left half of a rabbit carcass get'* pretty ripe in 2 days of 100* weather. And the lovely part is, it'* one of them smells that follows you for about 10 minutes.

Come Wednesday when the trsh guys finally come by, they ain't gonna be the least bit happy. Neither am I Wednesday evening when I gotta clean that trashcan out.....

Thanks for sharing that lovely incident I'm ready to throw up my yogurt.

One time I saw a baby bird fall out of its nest and a cat came up and grabbed it just as I was walking over to put it back in the nest. I grabbed that cat and fought with it to try and save the baby bird. That cats jaw was clenched tighter than a new prison inmates *** so I couldn't save the poor bird.

I've had to do the same thing before, but it was with my own cat when I was 10 years old.. SOmething ripped it'* head and legs off and left its body mangled on my front stairs. the carcass was around a week old.. I carried the damn thing a good 300 yards to burry it out back. that was horrible.

I got no problems with the cycle of life. The stench of death, on the other hand, well, I ain't a big fan....
