Default olds bravada

My friend has 2 which his dad is trying to sell, a 97ish and a 93. I can buy either for around trade-in value.

They are the same as the blazers...4-wheel drive etc...I'm wondering if anyone knows the common problems on them.

Transmission is pretty common on the early years, not sure of the '97 though.

93.... Not sure... if it'* CMFI, the spider unit will fail, as with the 97, but if the '93 is TBI, it will go forever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ev........................................ you get the idea. I've seen TBI 4.3s (TBI motors in general) go past 400k and run like a brand new motor, aside from a little oil burning at startup.

97....... Fairly reliable, aside from the eventual tranny problems around 170-180k. Common failure is the THIN LIM gaskets, and the CSFI unit WILL fail, causing problems such as running excessively rich, stalling, hard starting, cat failure, and sometimes backfires that destroy the plastic UIM (rare but does happen).
