Oh MOPARMan, where are you? (Gonneville's bro), I need help!

okay. Another guy from work has a 94 duster with the 3.0L Auto. he worked Chrysler parts for 25 years previous.
The 3.0L litre is indeed a good Chrysler engine, much stronger and more reliable than the 3.3L. The Tranys seem okay with this combonation, however his needed clutches before 60,000 miles.
I do belive he did head gaskets and full top end gasketing after 60,000 miles though, im sure it was just for maintence.
Overall, the engine itself is fairly economical, as it gets 25 or in town and around 38 highway. And is fairly powerfull.

Yeah the gaskets must have been for maintenance. My neighbor'* '92 Dodge Shadow 3.0 with the 5 speed had 286,000 miles on it when he moved away, and I just recently talked to him. It currently has 311k miles on it and still runs like a champ, on original everything except obvious tune up parts, and alternator, water pump and radiator, that'* all that was ever done to it, has ran synthetic oil since he got it from the dealer new in late 1991.

Alot of the problems with the 3.0s were worked out in earlier years to my knowledge.
The transmissions seem to be okay, his just started to act up, and he wont let anything go for long at all. He ported his TB and his intake manifold as well...soon to be turbo charged.

Yeah I heard that the 3.0 with mods (which are from the older 3.0s, and a few cheap to free mods, you can easiiy squeeze 180-190 crank HP out of them.

I have right to my opinion, If Pinky wants to buy a Chrysler product its fine with me but I really dont want to see another caviler or fiero actually I really dont want to read another emo-style post about why the chrysler was a money pit. If you need a car find one that is running that has a reputable drivetrain (3800, 350, lots of imports) for cheap.....

If the chrysler is under $1000 I'd buy it if it was me...not much you can loose, if it starts to get expensive, dump the car and buy another beater. still cheaper than a car payment.

That SSEi you mentioned is likely a better car for the money. Plus you have the support of the people on this forum if something goes wrong.

We had a '96 Caravan with the Mitsubishi 3.0 and the A604 transmission.

Engine lasted to 240,000 and it was only junked because the (second) transmission went. Not a bad run.
