One very easy way is to download spybot search and destroy. Set it to advanced settings and you can remove items from your startup list.

CCleaner has this same function... it also has the ability to clean out cache'*, old files, fix registry errors, etc. And its free. Just type in "ccleaner" at download.com and you'll be golden.
