thats what i hate about newer cars, my seats are like clouds just awesome for long drives, but my dads cars seats are rock hard bucket seats, they arent bad but i would choose my seats over his any day.. they dont make cars like they used to at all. engine choice will be difficult for me since 3800 is all i know. I want that get up and go, but i also want a reliable engine.

The 3500s are reliable motors. My parents car has about 140,000kms on it now, and when they got it 2 years ago, it only had 10,000kms on it. It only needed a wheel bearing, and a vent solenoid or something replaced. Like I said, the seats are a little hard, but when you adjust it right, they're fine for long drives. I have driven it from St. John'* to Botwood a couple times, and I wasn't too sore after that 400km drive.

i like my seats, it has the wider non sport bolsters, lumbar and all. and power for the 3500 compared to a 3800 in a h body, would be the same or better 0-60 and anything higher than that for highway passing or whatever the 3500 would walk away.

Somewhat. The 3500 is based more off of the 60* V6'*, like the 3.1 and 3.4, while the 3.8 is a 90*. They still used the 3.8 in the Grand Prix and Buick Lacrosse, but they updated the Impala to the 3.5. I found that the 3.5 has plenty of power throughout the rpms. I'm not sure what it is like power wise compared to your 3.8, but compared to my under-powered 3.1, it feels really good. I think you'd like it.

the 3500 is new tech, the 3800 is old tech. I was playing with my GTech timer last night and my car will do 7.61sec 0-60 with all my crap inside and all the audio crap in the trunk. the listings i saw for yours are around 8
