New puppy (update: finally got one)
No pics yet. My mother in law works at a hospital, and someone came in with a beagle/something else mix pully that is a few weeks old. Said he found it wondering with a large lab and was shivering, despite it being 60 degrees yesterday. She knew we were looking for a dog and brought it home. If no one calls within a week, we can keep it. But the thing is SO LOUD!! We live in an apartment. The moment we tried to put him in a kennel, he started howling, so we got him out, quieted down, then tried to put him in the bathroom with a blanket and the light on, got even louder, and someone downstairs yelled to shut him up.
Appearently there isn't enough sound deadening. Put him in bed with us, he shut up and went right to sleep.
Got any tricks to keep a rambunctious little puppy quiet?

Typically a puppy will bark when it'* not around a human or another dog. They seek comfort in contact. Keeping the dog in your room is a good idea, but try putting him/her in a cage. Situate the cage so that the dog can still see you guys in bed. The cage also makes them feel more comfortable since they are den animals.
When I was still working construction/remodeling I actually went to a couple of houses where the people had had thier dogs "voiceboxes" surgically removed.
It was one of the wierdest/saddest thing I have ever seen. Dogs are trying to bark, but all you hear is wind coming out of thier throats. For the love
For the love of all you hold Holy, don't ever do that to an animal....
