Sometimes you get what you pay for. With the HP Compaq nw8000, you pay for what you get. Marrying the range-topping Pentium M 755 (2.0 GHz) CPU with 1GB of RAM and a 7,200-rpm hard drive doesn't come cheap. Neither does the ATI Mobility Fire GL T2 GPU (with 128MB of onboard memory). But if the engineers in your organization need a full-fledged workstation (complete with ISV certification) that is also a portable, the nw8000 is a solid choice
i run an amd athelon 2.8GB
1.5GB ram
and a radion vid card with 256MB
in a system i built myself, im no computer expert, i just learn things as i go along, and going on 10 years of teaching myself i think i do prity well
next on the wish list rite behind clear corners on my ride is a DVD burner ,,,

Mobile processor ratings are different than workstations/desktops. That 2.0g processor in my laptop is faster than a 3gig.
By quite a bit. It'* an M processor.
I also maxed out my RAM and have an extra hdd in the laptop (can remove for an extra onboard battery) and 2 expansion drive bays in my replicator port at work and home.
As laptops go, it doesn't get much better than this under $5k.

Well, here'* the deal.......
My laptop is a 2.0gig with 1.5gig of RAM. Video as stated in that article.
My workstation UNDER my desk at work is a 2.8gig processor with 3gigs of RAM. And an Nvidia Quadra-FX or something video card. Both run (share) double 21" LCD'*.
The laptop outperforms the workstation. By a significant margin.

Nice laptop Jeanie. The company that I work for uses Dell'*, and the newer laptops are really something special. They are overall very solid machines.
I'm sitting here at home on an old Dell Latitude C610 with a Pentium 3 mobile that runs like a champ. They are pretty reliable.
