Default New Impala SS

Why does the 04 SS get a Series II l67, when the 04 GTP gets a Series III?

Maybe with the way things were planned out in the design stages, they didn't have the Series III ready.

Maybe. But the GTP came out before it with the III as a whole new car, where as the SS is just gussied up a bit. Just food for thought.

Well, the Series II L67 is no slouch.

But the 04 GP bascally got new everything. Not much is the same, so why not introduce a new mill on a brand new car. Plus the GP will be a good guinea pig for the Series III

The L67 is a more known engine and is not as intimidating as the new Series III (L32?). At least thats how I look at it, and I REALLY like the new Impala SS'* because they finally put an engine in there that it deseved years ago.
