New HWY ramp for Toyota
Yeah, I know. I've been a diesel mechanic for years before I went back to school, and I was a truck driver for some time. I was just wondering if any of you guys knew. That is why I quoted Mike1995 when he mentioned it was a "wicked ride in a semi". I have been on those a time or two before
Or when you are going down a LONG incline, are maybe more than a little overloaded, and you start getting brake fade since you cannot control your speed just by downshifting, even using jake brakes. Even in pickups and whatnot, when you are towing, and go down a steep incline, it is helpful to downshift before you reach the incline to keep your speed down when you go downhill. Hydraulic brakes fade as well with heat.
BTW, air brakes are exactly like hydraulic brakes, they are just air actuated instead of fluid, and trucks use much larger brakes. Though, drum brakes are more common in trucks, disc brakes are becoming much more widely used too.
