I think last time I heard was to keep up with the ever changing computer technology you would have to buy a new system about once every 6 days or so.......That'* just way too expensive....But now computers are hitting such rediculous (meaning that in a good sense) speeds that you could buy a new system and it'll last a while, because I don't think that most common users software is any where near intricate enough to harness the full potential of some of the new systems that we have today. We got 3 and 4 ghz machines out now these days and some of the most intricate video games can still run on a 1 ghz still with no problems. Trick is to get graphics and sound cards that are cabaple of doing their own processing on the card to relieve some of the pressure on the CPU. I'd love to have a real highend computer....but the finances don't support it, but you wouldn't have to upgrade for quite a few years.
