put up one of those invisible fences, they work. My dog and I walk past a place that has one. His dog will see us and start running toward us and just stop out in the middle of nowhere.

They are high voltage, but very low amperage. Not gonna hurt 'em, but it'll give 'em a pretty good jolt. One or two of them, and they won't go within 6 feet of that fence anymore.

We had an electric fence around our yard when I was a kid, to keep our dogs from digging out, and strays from digging in. It hurts like a bitch, but no permanent damage (and you know us kids hit it more than once). Funniest thing I can remember as a kid was my sister scooting an aluminum lawn chair back against it one time..
