the need for safety inspections

Ever get worried about other vehicles around you? I do. Today for example, turning through an intersection I noticed a chevy half ton coming down a hill towards me his front wheel on the drivers side shaking badly. Low and behold a puff of brake dust and the wheel asst came off and bounced off of 4 other vehicles like a pinball then went flying off a bridge into the river below. The truck violently hit the ground and slid into the vehicle in front of him. All of this could be avoided by an annual safety inspector for the most part. I have always lived in states that required one until now and it really bothers me with the crap people get away with driving at speed on the roads

Ya right there is no cure for stupidity. People don't know or care around here. Ei'* much rather pay the $40 once a year to know that he car is good beyond what I can look at vs joe schmo saying yup it starts and it'* got gas we're good

In Mass they have biannual or after the first 5 years inspection and it'* a good thing. Keeps a lot of safety issues off the road. Here in my state of CT it'* simply an OBDII, horn etc test. If you have holes in the body, it'* not a problem. No checking of balljoints etc.
It'* odd to me how some people can drive and not know that their car is falling apart.

I think basic automotive training should be part of getting a drivers license. This is how you check tires, oil, coolant, trans fluid, brakes, etc. You know, better then here'* your DL, have fun.
