Default Need Penguin people help

The daughter bought a cheap laptop off the street and wanted me to "upgrade" it to make it faster

Its a gateway solo 2500 Se: Pentium@200mhz 96mb ram (128 max) with a very slow Win2k install on it'* 2Gb Hd.

I'm looking for a stripped down version of Linux that will work with wireles internet, email, and a modern browser (flash, pdf..anything else?)

Recommendations?

(No, there'* no way to get her money back, don't bother recommending that)

How cheap is cheap? Or don't I want to know?

Hmm, just try loading Ubuntu, that'* what I always use... I have a P2 machine that I got for free that ran Ubuntu and Gentoo just fine...

IIRC, Gentoo is VERY stripped down, and might be the best choice for you...

Thanks! I'll check that out.
