Well, you're not looking for a digital SLR like what Sol has, so I'd actually recommend you not change lenses at all. The lenses on the cameras that everybody'* recommended so far are do-it-all ones. Don't worry about it.

You change lenses more when you want to do *specific* tasks. ie, soft focus, lots of zoom (long focal length), wide angle, macro, etc.

ok cool, this may sound funny but i just like the look of the kodaks lens. it looks expensive i dunno the kodaks lens looks like it has a bigger site range then the canon 610. im no camara expert so im gonna listen to u guys that are experts. im not positive that im getting a new camara but im thinking and hopeing that they wont fix mine due to its age and outdateage(is that a word).

Yea, the 610 lens goes from 35mm to 140mm or so. It'* a nice range actually. It'* a standard wide angle to a medium telephoto. Good range.

now what about camara speed, the biggest problem with my sony was when i took a pic of something in the air when it got to the camara it was already gone. how do i fix that? id like to take action shots, something like multiple shot or pressing the button repeatly.

You'd have to play around with the camera to see how it functions. Some of the digi-cams have a burst mode on them and can be used for action.

That doesn't have IS. You'd be paying a lot more for a camera with IS. But IS won't help with moving subjects anyway.

The big glass won't mean too much... the largest aperture (the hole in which amount of light allowed through is regulated) is f/2.8 for *both* cameras.

I would also imagine the Canon has superior battery life: the Kodak uses its own battery or two AA'*, whereas the Canon (and my Canon A75) uses four. And the battery life is PHENOMENAL. I can go an entire day at the Toronto autoshow on one set of batteries - a couple hundred shots at minimum.

Hate to break it to you, but most likely they will still fix yours. I have a 5 year warranty on the Sony deck in my car, and A&B Sound has repaired it 4 times, including just 2 months ago. Unfortunately, it really isn't in their best interest to give you a piece of stock they can easily sell.

But if you do get it, cool, and kudos.
